Phi Theta Kappa

How likely would you be to join a club that offers scholarships? How about a club that looks really good on a resume? Or a club that could really impact the world? That club at Chandler-Gilbert Community College is called Phi Theta Kappa. This club is a nationally recognized honor society and gives students all of these opportunities.

The purpose of this club is to learn and research. It is also a great way to collaborate with other honor students. Throughout the year there is a project that the club members research and write about. This year the topic is “Beauty and Vulgarity”. When talking to Maddy, the club’s service learning officer, she explained that Phi Theta Kappa is the “college version of National Honor Society”.

Noel Morelos is the honor society’s advisor. The club has a Facebook page and Twitter account to check for club updates. The club meetings are held every Wednesday from 2:30 to 3:30 in SC 103. To join this club, a student must have taken 12 credits and received a GPA of 3.5 or higher.

Phi Theta Kappa is the “the oldest, largest and most prestigious Honor Society in higher education” and has many opportunities for students. This club gives great scholarship opportunities, learning and research opportunities, and a great thing to put on your resume.
